COVID-19 updates

We have been following the latest developments about COVID-19 and have taken into consideration the latest advice from the government. As a result we are postponing all future face-to-face meetings for the foreseeable future. If you have any upcoming meetings scheduled with our Business Development Team or Moderators, you will be offered the opportunity to move these online.


We are working closely with the Federation of Awarding Bodies (FAB) who is in dialogue with the Department for Education regarding planning for COVID-19. We will be guided by these discussions and anticipate that any approach agreed will be coordinated across all awarding organisations.


We continue to actively explore ways to accommodate e-moderation's and we hope to be able to provide a further update towards the end of the week. Our team remain on hand and ready to provide you with any support that you may need in relation to our qualifications and assessments. We have also put together a list of the most common questions we are receiving from Providers and we will keep this updated. Should you need to speak to a member of the team call us on 01924 434601.

Should we continue to teach and assess our Access to HE Diploma?

We are working with QAA to find a solution for learners that are still on a course. We would recommend that you continue to deliver an assess as best as you can for the time being. We will inform all Providers as soon as QAA issue any update or variation to the rules.


Can I still enrol learners onto Access to HE Diplomas?

Yes, it's business as usual. Please go ahead and register learners through the Portal.


What should I do if I have a moderation visit due?

You do not need to do anything at this stage. We have postponed all face-to-face moderation visits. A member of our team will be in touch to rearrange your moderation, where we can we will try to accommodate e-moderation's. We are awaiting further guidance on this matter and hope to provide a further update at the close of this week.


Am I able to change my assessment method in light of face-to-face teaching being suspended?

Our Diplomas are designed in such a way that they can be assessed in a variety of ways to suit each individual Provider. We do not prescribe required assessment tasks. We would recommend that if you amend the assessment method, you should do so. This may include such methods as completing presentation tasks over video-conferencing software or replacing examinations with essay tasks that could be completed remotely. You may also be able to demonstrate that assessment criteria are met through work completed already either as formative assessment or as part of another unit.


Am I able to estimate grades for my students, in the same way that is being done for A-Levels?

QAA are currently yet to confirm whether this will be allowable and, if it is allowable, what methods will be used to make estimate and to quality assure estimated grades. Therefore, at this time, you cannot estimate a grade.


What can I tell my students?

QAA has put together a useful FAQ section which we recommend you make available to students.


Will there be a delay in receiving certificates?

We will do our very best to ensure you receive all certificates on time. Should there be any delays, a member of our team will let you know.


Can I still register to become a Provider?

Are you still open for business?

Unless government guidance changes we remain open for business. Our Access to HE Team are available from 09:00 to 17:00. They are on hand to assist you with any enquiries that you may have.
