COVID-19 updates

8 January 2021

***Updated Friday 8th January 2021***

Following the government’s announcement of a national lockdown, effective until at least February 2021, Certa Access would like to reassure you that, as always, the team is here to support you.

QAA has already released guidance for Access to HE Providers and guidance for Access to HE students, which you will find useful. Certa Access has also developed additional summative guidance for Centres, located on our OneDrive site.

We will shortly be adding these documents to a new dedicated Covid-19 hub on the Certa Access website, which will be live in the next week. This guidance covers our process for supporting Centres and for the adaption of assessments. Centres are required to notify Certa Access of any adaptations made to teaching, learning environments and assessment of Access to HE. You will find the form at the end of the Arrangements for the award of A2HE Diplomas 20-21 guidance in OneDrive.

Please note that current guidance does not include provision for the issue of estimated grades (calculated grades), nor is it intended at this time that estimated/calculated grades will be used during the 2020/21 academic year.

It is likely that Certa Access will once again ask you to provide Grade Descriptor achievement information for each assessment task. Therefore, please ensure this is readily available.

We are here to support you in delivering our qualifications and ensuring your students are able to progress. If you have any questions or concerns that you would like to discuss, please do not hesitate to contact us via accesstohe@certaaccess.co.uk.

Can I still enrol learners onto Access to HE Diplomas?

Yes, it's business as usual. Please go ahead and register learners through the Portal.

What should I do if I have a moderation visit due?

You do not need to do anything at this stage. We have postponed all face-to-face moderation visits. A member of our team will be in touch to rearrange your moderation, and to confirm the process for quality-assuring estimated grades.

What can I tell my students?

QAA has put together a useful FAQ section on their website which we recommend you make available to students.

Can I still register to become a Provider?

Yes, please contact our Access to HE Team on 01924 434601 or accesstohe@certaaccess.co.uk . They will be able to help you through the process of becoming a Provider. Our Access to HE Team are also happy to discuss your needs over the phone or via video-conferencing. To arrange an online conference please contact us.

Are you still open for business?

Unless government guidance changes we remain open for business. Our Access to HE Team are available from 09:00 to 17:00. They are on hand to assist you with any enquiries that you may have.

One final thing…

We request that you do not ask students to enquire Certa Access directly, as this will increase the amount of time that it takes for us to deal with enquiries from Providers.
